Liquis is turning 1!

liquis-turns-1Last year, on 8/8/08, Brad took the drive home from his 9 to 5 for the last time and Liquis Design has been in full force ever since. We’ve hit our first big milestone and would like to take a walk down memory lane with you to recap some of our most memorable moments…

1. Our first three clients solidify Brad’s decision to take the plunge.

Moments Salon, Garcia Express and Apodaca Wall Systems were our christening clients. Brad had always said he would quit his day job to start Liquis when he had at least three clients on board to get the ball rolling… and it’s been a snowball effect ever since.

2. Brad lets the camera follow him around for the day.

After bringing me on board to handle the marketing efforts of Liquis, I had the bright idea to let the world know who the real Brad is. Sure, they know he designs stuff, but since he’s behind his computer most of the time I thought it was important to let people get to know him better… and have a chuckle or two.

3. Waki’s attempt to have us all determine our inner animal.

Jackie, AKA Waki, saw an episode of Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory where Rob asked his employees to determine their inner animal and then they made Razer scooters that looked like their animal. Ever since, Waki has been trying to get Brad and I to do it. Finally I said, “fine, I’ll be a bird.” But she said no, that I wasn’t a bird and to think of another one. So… the great inner animal debate continues…

4. Liquis gets an intern!

Our very first intern, Catherine, came to us from ASU asking to work with us for the summer. We were like, “really?” and she was like “yeah, but I don’t want to get your coffee.”  I was like, “I don’t drink coffee.” So we brought her into the trenches and she worked up some great stuff and is walking away with quite a portfolio. Waki is still trying to figure out what her inner animal is.

5. Our attempt to add “zoomification” to the English dictionary.

Yeah… that didn’t go over like we planned…

6. Reaching 100 fans on Facebook.

When we first joined Facebook we were hoping for 30 fans so we could be famous…. but when we reached the 100 mark, *that* was awesome.

7. Andy’s television debut.

I was so freaking scared! I had always put other people on TV in my previous life at a PR agency, but me? Yikes! I decided to take my own advice that I used to give my clients…”You’re the expert. Just talk about what you know and don’t look at the camera.”

8. Our “poop” advertisement.

It was a tad crazy, but we couldn’t help ourselves.

9. Our first photoshoot.

We felt so famous… Then we paid the photographer.

10. The clients who made it happen.

Our first year would never have been possible without our amazing clients. We’ve heard so many horror stories and we were kind of expecting to get a bad client here and there, a bad check or even an uncomfortable conversation… but we exit our first year without any wounds to lick and the most amazing client roster we could ever ask for. A big thank you to all of our clients. We are so thankful.

Here’s to many more years!

Congratulations to all of you! I owe my entire website to Liquis. I really feel that my site is current and I am proud to show it off. I love my “What’s New ” page. I can update it on my own, and this adds value to me as a business owner. Thanks again, Paula Moyes
