What I learned from Kurt Warner and Rudy Giuliani

What I learned from Kurt WarerI recently attended a ginormous event titled Get Motivated put on by THE biggest names around. My favorite speakers were Kurt Warner and Rudy Guiliani. Here’s a quick overview of some key points those gentlemen made that stuck with me and I think will not only make me a better business person, but a better person in general.

Kurt Warner, Retired NFL

Kurt talked a lot about being a competitive person. In fact, he told a story about playing video games with his six-year-old son and dominating the kiddo. Then, his son would get up and get his wife and she’d enter the room with those eyes that said “Do you really have to be so competitive with your six-year-old son?” To her silent query he responds, “Well, he’s going to have to learn about loosing someday and why shouldn’t it be in the comfort of his own home with someone who cares about him?”

Taking a walk down memory lane

WalkDownMemoryLaneChange and evolving have been on my mind lately. Andy recently asked us to answer 2 questions about Liquis. Why us, why right now ? After reading our answers I thought wow, not only can we answer these questions in the first place, but we have good answers! However, I felt a bit left out. I keep records and books in order and balance. Has my position evolved? I have been entering past clients and projects into a new project management application that our design director, Brad, has custom built to better suit our needs.

Why us, why now?

Business SuccessAfter reading Seth’s Blog post that poses the questions, “Why us, why now?” … It got me thinking. According to Seth, those questions are the only thing between you and a sale. Really? I never really thought about it that way before. Then I started to think, what is it about Liquis that has kept us in the game? More importantly, what is it about us that has resulted in an especially busy season for us currently? Here’s what I came up with…

Developing a visual brand with a plan

What Liquis Means copyYou know what a vision board is, right? Well, the great thing about a vision board is that it’s a visual representation of all your hopes and dreams and when you look at it frequently, you become subconsciously focused.  Although most often used for obtaining personal goals, this concept can also be applied to companies in order to realize their brand and direction.   more…

What we’re thankful for

thanksgivingThis Thanksgiving, we at Liquis, are thankful for our amazing clients. We are a family business and our clients are an extension of that.

Our clients help us push the limits, become better and expand our creativity. We wouldn’t be here without them!

So happy Thanksgiving to our big fat Liquis family!   Thanks for helping us get off the ground, grow and look toward the future.

Phoenix Design Week begins!

phxdwWPAll of us here at Liquis are getting anxious for the inaugural Phoenix Design Week to commense tomorrow. We have a busy schedule ahead attending exhibits and conferences and luckily a few new client meetings in between. I’m thinking all of this creativity will have a positive impact on upcoming work and I know we’re all excited for the challenge.

In light of Phoenix Design Week, we’ve not only put together this fun video as part of the event’s 12 Seconds promo, but we also gave our own Web site a revamp so we can put our best face forward and represent!

Stay tuned, we look forward to sharing some take aways from the event in upcoming posts.

Take-aways from my quotable internship at Liquis

quotesSince I’ve started my internship here at Liquis Design, I’ve learned a few things:

“Things that upset a terrier may pass virtually unnoticed by a Great Dane.” – Smiley Blanton

In general, a Great Dane and a Chihuahua can get along quite harmoniously. However, a Great Dane and an office sometimes results in broken glass and horribly smelly farts.

You may recognize the avatars we use here (and everywhere else) from our website and you may be wondering why the heck we’re being so ambiguous. Well, the truth is we’re kinda ugly.

Okay not really, but soon you’ll get to see for yourselves. Adam has promised us some kick butt headshots so check back for a peek at our mugs soon!
