Discovery Worksheets

tellmeaboutyourself

When we meet with clients in the discovery phase we take LOTS of notes and learn everything that needs to take place within the functionality and identity requirements in order to develop a stellar mockup and work plan. We were getting along just great, but I knew we could be streamlining the process. Thus, our Discovery Worksheets were created. We have used them a handful of times and so far they are working out fabulously. Not only do the worksheets help us organize our notes, but the questions give the meeting a flow or at least a systematic starting point.

If you ever hire us to create a website for you, these are some questions to expect. If you are a Web designer, feel free to grab this info an make it your own:

Summer Break! (Don’t worry, it’s only a week)

HBpier1Here at Liquis Design we are taking our annual Summer Break July 19-23 to refresh and reenergize our creative minds.

Some of us are heading out of town, and some of us are staying right here in sunny Arizona, but one thing’s for sure, we ain’t gonna be in the office! Of course, if you need to chat with us right away we will have our trusty Blackberries. Just shoot any of us an e-mail and you’ll get an auto response with our contact info.

We look forward to coming back all shiny and new!

It’s all about relationships… at least for us.

ClientPieChartWe believe the number-one factor that will determine our success is our relationships with clients and would-be clients. They are everywhere, from that luncheon last week to the Facebook fan page, to the establishment you frequent, to gathering with friends. Everyone is a potential client. Now, it’s important to hear what I’m about to say next because I am an ANTI-SALESPERSON. It’s not about giving out your biz cards or your elevator speech to everyone at these places, it’s about showing a genuine interest in what THEY do and being a resource for them, whether or not it has anything to do with your actual business.

Free Websites for Causes

logo-01_SMALLYep, that is correct. A recent client of ours came to us for logo design and he had this great cause and was doing great things and we just thought, “if only we had to time to REALLY hook him up.” Then we started thinking about it more, and wanted to make it a priority to budget time and funds for a pro-bono website build during a typically slow period of the year for us. Thus, A Cause to Design was born.

One last pic of all that food!

finalAZHCblogOkay… here is the entire lot crammed into the back of my husband’s Suburban! You should have seen the volunteer’s face when he opened the truck! I said he’d never seen so much food.

We filled an enormous crate with your donations all benefiting local kids through the Arizona Hunger Campaign. Thanks again to everyone who participated for helping us truly make a difference for the kids :)

Yay for the kids and you too!

all the foodSMALLA big round of applause from us to everyone that came out to show their support on Saturday as we teamed up with the Arizona Hunger Campaign to help feed local kids without enough to eat. Your donations will make a huge impact. Based on a highly scientific method, it is my conclusion that we collected over 600 pounds of food this weekend! Plus, we still have a few pick-ups to make! Thank you SO much for your generosity.

Our chance to make a difference

tavinWhen I heard that 1 out of 5 local kids go to bed without enough to eat, I felt physically sick. To me, that is unacceptable. I thought about my son, pictured here, and how that must feel as a parent… knowing you can’t give your child a basic need. Then, when I heard I have a chance to do something about it with the help of the Arizona Hunger Campaign, my husband and I decided we were going to help orchestrate a significant  donation. The next thing we knew, Liquis Design was on board and we now have a small army stepping up to impact that horrible statistic as we prepare to fill up an entire trailer with food… maybe two! But we need YOUR help. Please consider joining this cause and sharing the information with others.

Holy cow!

black and white cow grazingIt’s been forever since I’ve made an appearance here! The truth is we’ve all been burning the midnight oil at Liquis HQ because there’s lots of fantastic projects going on. The reason I bring this up is because… drum roll please… … … we’re hiring! We’ve only got a couple more days to accept resumes so if you know anyone who’s interested, have them check out the details on the AIGA Arizona website

Our process for Web & graphic design development

Untitled-1 copy

This pic shows how we go about putting a mockup together… It all starts with some pencil (and a lot of erasers) until we’ve got a solid idea and then Brad works his magic. Okay… so down to the nitty gritty. Here’s how we do things around here:

My photocommute

As inspired by a client of ours, who did this very thing, I decided to document my own photocommute! Because I don’t live carefree like he does and am dependent on my trusty SUV… My photos are not as nice, but man, this is a wonderful city!

The Liquis Song

As the official design sponsor for IABC Phoenix, we were given the opportunity to say a few words about ourselves before introducing the presenters at the March luncheon… this is what we came up with:

What I learned from Kurt Warner and Rudy Giuliani

What I learned from Kurt WarerI recently attended a ginormous event titled Get Motivated put on by THE biggest names around. My favorite speakers were Kurt Warner and Rudy Guiliani. Here’s a quick overview of some key points those gentlemen made that stuck with me and I think will not only make me a better business person, but a better person in general.

Kurt Warner, Retired NFL

Kurt talked a lot about being a competitive person. In fact, he told a story about playing video games with his six-year-old son and dominating the kiddo. Then, his son would get up and get his wife and she’d enter the room with those eyes that said “Do you really have to be so competitive with your six-year-old son?” To her silent query he responds, “Well, he’s going to have to learn about loosing someday and why shouldn’t it be in the comfort of his own home with someone who cares about him?”

Taking a walk down memory lane

path leading to seaChange and evolving have been on my mind lately. Andy recently asked us to answer 2 questions about Liquis. Why us, why right now ? After reading our answers I thought wow, not only can we answer these questions in the first place, but we have good answers! However, I felt a bit left out. I keep records and books in order and balance. Has my position evolved? I have been entering past clients and projects into a new project management application that our design director, Brad, has custom built to better suit our needs.

Why us, why now?

Business SuccessAfter reading Seth’s Blog post that poses the questions, “Why us, why now?” … It got me thinking. According to Seth, those questions are the only thing between you and a sale. Really? I never really thought about it that way before. Then I started to think, what is it about Liquis that has kept us in the game? More importantly, what is it about us that has resulted in an especially busy season for us currently? Here’s what I came up with…

My takeaways from Social Media AZ #SMAZ

IMG_0748I truly walked away from the #SMAZ event a smarter person. I’ve been using and working with social media since before all the hype, but with the hype, comes LOTS more to keep up on.  Here are some of my key takeaways from Social Media AZ (#SMAZ). Also, if you attended the event or can add to my notes below, please do so!
