by Jackie Wolfe, General Manager

thanksgivingThis Thanksgiving, we at Liquis, are thankful for our amazing clients. We are a family business and our clients are an extension of that.

Our clients help us push the limits, become better and expand our creativity. We wouldn’t be here without them!

So happy Thanksgiving to our big fat Liquis family!   Thanks for helping us get off the ground, grow and look toward the future.

by Brad Ball, Design Director

jQueryBlogImagejQuery is a JavaScript library that allows Web designers and developers to incorporate simple animations, handle events and add AJAX interactions with just a few lines of code. One of the main benefits, besides the use of more efficient code, is that designers/developers can incorporate more information into a Web page and still keep the aesthetics of a clean and snappy interface. To find out more on how to use and incorporate jQuery into your web projects start here. I have also included some links to examples and tutorials to what I feel are very useful jQuery tools below. Let the fun begin!

by Andy Ptacek, Marketing Director

phxdwWPAll of us here at Liquis are getting anxious for the inaugural Phoenix Design Week to commense tomorrow. We have a busy schedule ahead attending exhibits and conferences and luckily a few new client meetings in between. I’m thinking all of this creativity will have a positive impact on upcoming work and I know we’re all excited for the challenge.

In light of Phoenix Design Week, we’ve not only put together this fun video as part of the event’s 12 Seconds promo, but we also gave our own Web site a revamp so we can put our best face forward and represent!

Stay tuned, we look forward to sharing some take aways from the event in upcoming posts.

by Andy Ptacek, Marketing Director

NL_Social MediaA lot of people are on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and more, but what a lot of people don’t know is that these can all be very valuable business tools. The point of social media is to be, well, social. You have to actively and regularly participate in the conversations and make sure to contribute your expertise as well. So what does that have to do with your business? Well, it’s building a network of relationships, and let’s face it, people tend to do business with people they know. Think of social media as a virtual game of golf with a potential client, business partner or someone who might even have something valuable to help YOU.

What’s in a name?

Posted on
by Jackie Wolfe, General Manager

naming your businessWhen starting a new business, the first thing to do is name the new baby. Like a first child, some business owners name their company after themselves such as Garcia Express and Craigslist. Others use a play on words like Curl up and Dye (salon) and Sharp Bodyz (auto detailing). It could be an everyday word like Target or Jack in the Box, or something totally made up like Kudzu or Liquis Design.

BevI attended a Gangplank Brown Bag lunch presentation today given by Beverly Kidd discussing “social media through an old media lens.” She didn’t attempt to school us all on any groundbreaking social media topics, but rather gave us an inside perspective on how she has found incredible value with social media, mainly twitter.

What makes a good newsletter?

Posted on
by Andy Ptacek, Marketing Director

newsletterWell, first it takes a good audience. I do not recommend purchasing a list and spamming the heck out of them. If you’re just starting out, ask current clients and contacts if they’d be interested in receiving your newsletter. If your newsletter has been around a while, let people sign up themselves via your Web site or other means.
