InShare button is a must for your blog

linkedinWe don’t think this cool little button got the hype it deserved. Maybe it’s because LinkedIn didn’t do a fantastic job of telling us how it works. I had heard about it, but I didn’t think I needed anything beyond the generic share button I already had until I happened to stumble upon the ShareIn button on Social Media Examiner. In an instant I was sharing relevant content as my status update, with PR and social media groups of mine and a LinkedIn connection I knew would specifically be interested in the info… all in little popup window. How cool is that?

Okay so now your wondering why I would want to do that and more importantly, why it’s important for a blog to allow its readers to do that.

by Andy Ptacek, Marketing Director

wedding stampAs you already know, our design director and general manager are getting hitched! The wedding is July 17 in Newport Beach and the whole office is taking a road trip. Of course we’ll be taking this opportunity to “get our tan on” the rest of the week, but don’t fret, we’ll back. If you have an emergency, please call 911, otherwise leave us an email or voicemail and we’ll return your message when we get back to the office. Okay don’t call 911, we’ll have our smart phones and will get back with you if you have a design emergency.

Entrants just need to submit a video less than 2 minutes in length and a simple form, that’s it! Make sure you stay up to date by visiting the A Cause to Design Web page frequently.

Four benefits of blogging

970189_rss_icon_1First, let’s start off with why you’re NOT blogging… no time, I can’t think of anything to write about, yada yada yada. But do those roadblocks outweigh benefits like, positioning your business as the industry expert, getting the word out about special promos and events, giving your business humanity and perhaps most importantly, giving your business a MUCH larger web presence? That’s right… Every time you write a relevant blog post, Google likes you a little more.

Do It Yourself Identity Book

DIY Identity BookWhen you start out with a new business, brand guidelines may be a little far out for you to think about just yet because you’re still figuring out your core identity and how that looks. A great way to develop consistency in your identity is to create a book that encompasses various conceptual and visual aspects.

Here’s an example of an identity book we created for our client, Hot Corner Connect. We were hired to name, brand and create a membership website for the new company. In creating this book, our purpose was to give the client something tangible and whole that they could refer to for consistency within the brand as the company grows. It’s certainly not as complete as brand guidelines are, but it’s a great place for a new business to start.

To create your own identity book, here is a list of items you will want to include:

The Liquis family is growing!

Andy'sBabyThat’s right, I’m expecting my second child this November and am soooo excited! I’m finally starting to show and I could tell some clients were noticing, but were too polite to say anything…. well now the cat is out of the bag!

No, I’m not finding out if it’s going to be a little boy or girl because we didn’t last time and it was so much fun… especially the delivery. When my husband went out to the waiting area to revile the news I could hear cheers all the way in my delivery room. What an amazing experience!

I’m looking forward to taking this journey again, all the while having the support of my family here at Liquis along the way :)

The truth about Web development deadlines

by Andy Ptacek, Marketing Director

Website DeadlinesI must start this off by validating that we do indeed care about and have a very close relationship with deadlines her at Liquis. In fact, it’s not uncommon for the design team to be the first ones in and the last ones out or even work weekends if a project gets down to the wire. We work very hard to meet deadlines without sacrificing an ounce of great design or development standards.

Now that the disclaimer is taken care of, the truth about deadlines must come out. Sometimes deadlines are meant to be broken.

Cool Websites: KICK STARTER

by Brad Ball, Design Director

KickStarterThis is a cool website because it has a cool concept, helping creative projects get funded.

A great example of a totally creative idea that could get it’s legs from a website like this is the GoPano micro. It’s a device that lets you capture 360 degree video from an iPhone4. What the?!

The other reason it’s cool… click on the scissors at the footer! I can’t help myself…
