A program we can get behind.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona came to us to help them rebuild their WalkOn! Arizona program website. The purpose of the WalkOn! program is to educate and inspire fourth and fifth-grade students, their teachers and their families to focus on healthy choices that can be made daily through the 5-2-1-0 goal… And that is a cause we can get behind. Rebranding and building out the functionality for this program was just half the fun.  Watching the success of this program over the years, completes us, knowing that the work we continue to do with Blue Cross Blue Shield is making a huge impact in our community.

Our approach.

As part of the design process, we identified the most important information for the WalkOn! audience and made them easily accessible on the website home page.

The WalkOn! website had some extra functionality needs that needed to be incorporated as well. We built a way for teachers to login to their own portal, request challenge toolkits and submit results. All of the data is saved into the database in a way that is easily retrieved. The site is also integrated into the Blue Cross Blue Shield mailing list, which allows them to easily communicate with the teachers.

This website’s cool features.

Responsive design.

The WalkOn! website does not simply shrink to fit on phones and tablets; it detects the size of the screen it is being viewed on. Then, it automatically adjusts the size of the images and the layout of the content to provide the best possible experience for the viewer.

Teacher portal.

The WalkOn! teacher portal allows teachers to securely login and update their profile information, as well at order WalkOn! Challenge toolkits for their students.  It also provides teachers the ability to login and submit student results for the challenge.

Kids cooking challenge.

The Kids Cooking Challenge is complete with a voting system, where visitors can watch videos of the kid’s recipe entry and vote on their favorite recipe. Once a visitor places a vote they are encouraged to socially share their favorite recipe with convienently placed share buttons.
