I think we spend too much time worrying and doting over temporal things that don’t really matter.

Will the things you are prioritizing today be important tomorrow, next year, or when you’re dead?

This high-stress world we live in can cause us to think we need to create high-stress environments to “get things done,” but that’s just not the case.

When you define what’s truly important, and focus on those few things, you will actually more productive than if you attempted to put ALL of your attention on ALL of those things.

For entrepreneurs and business owners, this is an important balance that we have to master in our personal lives, just as much as our business lives.

The secret to creating more time.

Finding ways to delegate and stay organized is huge, but over organizing can actually cause you to micromanage or procrastinate. When in doubt, simplify. Simplify everything.

Most of us live busy lives, with schedules that seem to never open up. The reality is, you are in charge. You can make time for whatever you want.

Keeping perspective.

What do you want? Why do you want it?

Keeping your “why” and the big picture at the forefront of everything you do instead of hiding behind the busy work will allow to organically evolve your business to meet both the needs of your audience AND your “why.”

Don’t settle for the mediocrity of the daily task or doing things in a common way. Make your own way to do the common things uncommonly well.

Timing is nothing.

We established Liquis in the middle of 2008 when no one was making money and the competition was very established. At first we focused on being what we assumed was expected of us by the industry and our clients. But we were really just guessing, hoping that would make us successful.

Things changed for us when we found our voice, and decide that significance was our definition of success. We stopped chasing the wrong clients and begging for likes. We just did our thing, and our thing was simply “helping others.”

The magic is in the mindset.

When we turned our focus away from society’s standard of success and onto our own, we moved Liquis out of Brad’s den and into a sweet creative space with a cool team and awesome long-term clients. We integrated “helping” into every aspect of the business.

We got behind our clients and helped them discover their truest goals so we could use our talents to help them get there.

We helped our team grow in the ways their ambition took them.

We helped each other so our work was collaborative, smart, and efficient.

This attitude of service is what we fall back on when the business of our lives and work become overwhelming.

So what is weighing on you? Will the things you are prioritizing today be important tomorrow, next year, or when you’re dead?

If it’s not important, release it.

When you connect with what’s truly important about what you are doing, the stress of the small, meaningless things that are slowing you down will evaporate and you can be successful… I mean significant.
